West Bali National Park holds mangrove, monsoon forest, savanna and lowland rainforest within a short drive of each other, and more than 160 bird species between them. The best known is the Bali starling, white with a blue mask around the eye. It is critically endangered, found in the wild only on Bali, and the park is its original home.
Birds are most active early in the morning, so most trips leave at 06:00, with an afternoon departure at 15:00. Depending on the season, the guide takes you to sites such as Teluk Terima, Tegal Bunder and the coast near Cekik. Half-day and full-day versions are available, and binoculars, water and the park entrance fee are included.
