Who we are
Menjangan is operated by PT Kija Amerta Nusantara, Jl Danau Poso no. 20, Sanur, Bali 80227, Indonesia. For anything in this notice, write to hello@menjangan.com.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry through this website, we receive and store what you type into the form:
- Your name and email address, which we need in order to reply.
- Your phone number, so that we can contact you about your enquiry.
- Where you are staying in Bali, if you tell us.
- Your message, and any dates you give us.
- The tour or property you asked about, if you sent the enquiry from its page.
- The address of the page you sent the enquiry from, and any campaign codes (such as utm_source or utm_campaign) in the link that brought you to this website, so we know what you were looking at and how you found us. These are recorded automatically and are seen only by our team.
Our hosting also keeps ordinary server logs, including IP addresses, for security and to diagnose faults.
Reviews
If you review your trip, we may show the review on this website with the name you gave. We do this only with your agreement, or where you have already published the review under that name on a public review site such as Google or Tripadvisor, in which case we link to it. Write to us at any time and we will take it down.
Cookies and tracking
This website uses Google Analytics to see which pages are read, how visitors arrive, how far visitors get with an enquiry form (whether they start it, which required field stops it being sent, and whether it was sent, but not anything written in it), and roughly where they are in the world. Apart from the Google Maps maps on tour, accommodation and location pages, described below, it is the only third-party service the site loads. The same Google script also carries Google Ads conversion measurement, described below. The typeface is served from this site itself.
How Google Analytics behaves depends on where you are. If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, it sets no cookie and stores no identifier on your device; it sends Google a record of the page viewed without anything that links your visits together, and Google reports on those records in aggregate. Everywhere else it sets its standard first-party cookies (named _ga) to recognise returning visitors, kept for up to two years. In both cases Google uses your IP address to estimate your country and city and does not store it. Google’s privacy policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy, and you can stop Google Analytics collecting data in your browser with Google’s add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Photographs are delivered from media.menjangan.com, our own subdomain, which is operated for us by Cloudflare. Your browser requests an image and receives an image: no cookie is set, no script runs, and nothing follows you to other websites. Cloudflare receives the IP address that made the request, in the same way any provider serving a file must.
The exception is the administration area, which sets a session cookie so that a signed-in editor stays signed in. That is not part of the public site and it profiles nobody.
When you tap one of our WhatsApp, email or phone links, the site keeps its own record that a link of that kind was tapped, on which page, and when. Nothing else is kept in that record: no IP address, no device details, no cookie, and nothing that connects one tap to another or to you. We use the count to see which pages lead people to contact us.
Tour, accommodation and location pages show a map provided by Google Maps. The map loads when that part of the page comes into view, and Google may then set its own cookies and receives your IP address, under Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. Other pages do not load it.
If you arrive through a link that carries campaign codes (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term or utm_content), the site keeps those codes in your browser’s session storage for the rest of your visit, so that they can be included if you send an enquiry. They are not a cookie, are not sent anywhere unless you send an enquiry, and are deleted when you close the browser tab.
We advertise on Google Search, and we use Google Ads conversion measurement to see whether an advert led to an enquiry. When you send an enquiry or tap one of our WhatsApp or phone links, the site tells Google Ads that this happened. Nothing you write in an enquiry or a message is sent to Google. Outside the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and Switzerland, Google Ads sets first-party cookies on this site (named _gcl_au, and _gcl_aw if you arrived by clicking one of our adverts), kept for up to 90 days, so that an enquiry can be matched to the advert that preceded it. If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, no advertising cookie is set and no identifier is stored on your device; Google receives a record of the enquiry or tap without a cookie attached to it. We do not use advertising to follow you to other websites, and we do not build audiences for remarketing.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.
Why we hold it, and on what basis
We use what you send us to answer your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to arrange the stay, trips and transfers you have asked for. Where the GDPR applies to you, the basis is our legitimate interest in responding to an enquiry you have made, and, once you book, the performance of a contract with you.
Who we share it with
Menjangan books accommodation, tours and transport supplied by independent hotels and operators. To arrange a booking we pass on what those suppliers need to hold it, which is normally your name, your dates and the number of people travelling. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for marketing.
The following providers process data on our behalf:
- Vercel: website hosting and server logs.
- Neon: the database where enquiries are stored, hosted in Singapore.
- Cloudflare: image delivery.
- Resend: sending the email that notifies us of your enquiry.
- Google: website analytics and advertising measurement, as described under Cookies and tracking.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept while we are dealing with them and for a period afterwards so that we have a record of what was agreed. [To be confirmed: the retention period the operator wants to apply.]
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@menjangan.com and we will respond. If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
