A beach town on Bali's north coast, known for its sunrise dolphin trips and as a base for the waterfalls and highlands inland.

Lovina lies on the north coast, an hour and a half east of the Menjangan boats. The sea here is calm in the early morning, and dolphins are often seen offshore at first light; the boats leave the beach at 06:00.
The hills behind the coast hold some of Bali's best waterfalls. Aling Aling, near Sambangan, is a chain of around five, with natural pools for swimming. The Banjar hot springs and a Buddhist temple are close by.
Further inland the road climbs to the central highlands: the waterfalls around Munduk, the lake temple of Ulun Danu Beratan, the market at Bedugul, and the rice terraces of Jatiluwih, part of Bali's UNESCO-listed subak landscape. We arrange these as day trips by private car from the north-west coast.

The dolphins are wild, so sightings cannot be guaranteed, and the departure time may change with the weather and sea conditions.
At Aling Aling, sliding and jumping into the pools is at your own risk; the pools are just as good for a swim. Entrance fees at the waterfalls, hot springs and temples are paid on the day.
The central highlands day trip takes about ten hours, leaving at 08:00.
Lovina Beach is known for its dolphins. The sea is calm in the early morning and dolphins are often seen offshore at first light, so the boats leave the beach at 06:00. The boat is private to your group, and the crew take you to where the dolphins are most likely to be.
From the north-west coast it runs as a morning trip, with pickup from your hotel in Pemuteran and the drive back included. See the Lovina dolphin sunrise trip.
Aling Aling, near Sambangan in the hills behind Lovina, is a chain of around five waterfalls with natural pools. You can slide into the pools or jump from ledges of seven, twelve and sixteen metres, at your own risk; the pools are just as good for a swim.
It is a half day by private car, about an hour and a half each way from Sumberkima, with entrance fees paid on the day. See the waterfalls and hot springs trip.
The Banjar hot springs and the Buddhist temple nearby can be added to the waterfall trip, and the central highlands day trip returns by way of the hot springs.
