Half a day on the reef wall
Menjangan Island Snorkelling
Two snorkel stops on the wall that drops away from Menjangan’s north shore, reached by outrigger from Labuhan Lalang.
- Duration
- 5 hours
- Difficulty
- Easy
- From
- IDR 750.000 per person

The reef around Menjangan doesn’t slope, it falls. Three metres from the surface the wall drops into blue, hung with gorgonian fans and schooling batfish, and the water is clear enough that you can watch it go. This is why divers make the long drive up from the south.
The boat leaves from Labuhan Lalang, the jetty at the edge of the national park, and the crossing takes about half an hour. You snorkel two sites, dry off on the sandspit with fruit and cold water, and are back on the mainland by early afternoon.
