PADI Open Water is the standard first certification. Once qualified, you can dive to 18 metres with a buddy anywhere in the world, without a professional alongside you.
The course takes three to four days. Theory is done through PADI eLearning or the course manual, followed by skills practice in shallow water and four open water dives on the reefs of the north-west coast. The instructor, all equipment, your certification and lunch on boat days are included. National park fees are charged separately at some dive centres.
